Where the Fish are and How to Catch 'Em!
Pike: Pike fishing has made a
comeback this week - as you can see with Andy's fish!
Top Lure: Original Rapalas - Blue/white belly,
Husky Jerk #14 gold, minnows
Walleye: Walleye are relating heavily to weed cover
- look for a weedy drop off and hold on! Fish are being
taken at about 17'-18'. Snake Island, Tomahawk Island,
Present and Methodist - in the channels especially around
the buoys.
Top Lure: worm harnesses (orange, chartreuse) with
bottom bouncer or walking sinker, Husky Jerk (#8 or #10),
chartreuse jighead and a worm (you gotta jig it!)
Salmon: Salmon are where the baitfish are. There
aren't a lot of baitfish on the inside of Christian and
Hope Islands. If you have a bigger boat, you'll do better
on the west side. There are starting to be a few fish
caught off Ginn Rocks in "the hole". There are
also some fish in the rivers already, especially Wasaga
way!
Top Lure: Glow Frog NKs, Lyman's, Big Erns
Trout: On the inside of the triangle there are some
nice trout being caught (along with the odd salmon). Lake
trout are still in good numbers and there are some nice
rainbow being caught - especially by Captain Bill!
Top Lure: NK Flashers, Starfire Sundowner Spoons
Bass: Bass fishing is entering late summer
mode...so hold on! Look for submerged structure or rocky
shoals for smallmouth and fish the weeds for largemouth!
Penetang Bay, Hogs Bay, Green Island.
Top Lure: Slim Jims/Scuttle Worms have the been the
BEST producers! Craw Tubes or Salttubes: green pumpkin,
watermelon composite colours are working best. Strike King
Diamond Shad or Wild Thangs!
