4.5 lb Smallmouth Mark Bauer
4.84 lb Smallmouth Larry Bourgeois
28" Walleye Glen Cascagnette
Where the Fish are and How to Catch 'Em!
Pike: Pike fishing has been better this
spring than it has been for a long time! Bone Island, Penetang
Bay, Hogs Bay and Sturgeon Bay have all been good producers.
Top Lure: Husky Jerk (#10 or #12), red spinnerbaits
Walleye: Snake Island has been the best spot so far
this season. Try Tomahawk Island too. Walleye are relating
heavily to weed cover - look for a weedy drop off and hold on!
Top Lure: worm harnesses (orange, chartreuse, red) with
bottom bouncer or walking sinker, Husky Jerk (#8 or #10)
Trout/Salmon: Salmon are fewer and definitely smaller
so far this year, but they're out there! Try Mark's Pt.,
Methodist Pt. in 60' of water. If you're not getting the
salmon, move down to the bottom and you'll get the Lakers!
Top Lure: Trout - NK Flasher spoons, Salmon - Pink,
Purple NK28's
Bass: The bass are still shallow in about 8' - 10' of
water. Look for the weed/rock transitions in Honey Harbour,
Waubashene, Hogs (largemouth) or Sturgeon Bay
Top Lure: Sherbos/Slinkos, Slim Jims/Scuttle Worms,
Craw Tubes or Salttubes: green pumpkin, watermelon composite
colours are working best; Spinnerbaits: white,
white/chartreuse; Strike King Wild Thangs!
