6.80 lb Smallmouth Mark Bower
51.5" x 29.5" Musky Mike Dalakis
42" Pike Jeremy Quesnelle
14 lb Walleye Backwater Charter
32.45 lb Salmon George'N Charters
The Season went something like this....
Bass: Bass fishing was incredible this year right into the fall! Mark's fish came out of a wintering over spot late in the fall - on tubes! During the season, there was a LOT of top-water action, especially on pop-r's and spooks! Chuck Edwards and John Beardsall set a new 1-day Georgian Bay tournament weight record with just under 20 lbs for 5 fish this year!
Walleye: Walleye fishing has been great again this year on Georgian Bay! We are hoping it continues into the ice fishing season - which should start shortly!
Trout/Salmon: The downrigging season was the longest and most productive in recent memory! This year, the big surprise was the number and size of the Lake Trout being caught! The season ran from July right through October (and the brave were even out into the beautiful weather at the beginning of November!) The lure that came out of nowhere this year was the 'Big Ern', especially Grey Ghost and Watermelon! The river fishing was late, but productive! There were fish in the rivers right up until the beginning of November! The Luhr Jensen plastic eggs were the bait of choice (they smell better than roe too!)
Pike: Pike was slow through most of the summer, but the fall fishing has been incredible! The majority of the fish that were caught during the summer were big - like Jeremy's fish! Fishing lately has been productive off shore - especially with 3" to 4" shiner minnows.
Perch: Fall fishing for panfish was great this year - and hopefully into the ice fishing season! Scoop shiners and a tear drop are the ticket to catching perch and crappie. Small tubes have been working for those who prefer not to use live bait.
