Where the Fish are and How to Catch 'Em

Walleye/Pike: Closed on Georgian Bay on March 1st, but are still open on inland waters in Region 15 until March 31st. Six Mile Lake has been awesome for walleye and some nice pike.
Top Lure: Tone down on bait size, smaller jig or spoons tipped with a perch minnow
Herring: Midland Bay has been slow but with the warm weather starting to arrive, things are picking up. The fish seem to be staying in the 5' to 10' range below the ice. Penetang Bay has been awesome off of Magazine Is. and in front of Camp Marygrove.
Top Lure: Spoon & Gypsi Jig!
Crappie: The fishing has been great in the usual late winter hot spots: Black Lake, Gloucester Pool, Six Mile and Gibson Lake. Fish the whole water column as the fish seem to be up and down during the day
Top Lure: Jighead and pinhead minnow
Whitefish: The whitefish have been slow as of late, but the fish are there. Anglers with Aqua-vu cameras are seeing lots of fish at the bottom in Midland Bay just not too many takers. Spreaders seem to be the ticket. Try a salted minnow!
