Where the Fish are and How to Catch 'Em!

LARGIES/SMALLIES: The bass are starting to feed up and move into fall patterns. The water temp is still in the mid 60F so they are in early fall patterns. The largies are starting to move out of the inner bays to the deeper water. Try fishing the outside points in 6' to 12' of water. The smallies are roaming but are beginning to bunch up. Where you find one, there may be 4 or 5 more around - don't be afraid to work an area, not just a spot. Honey Harbour, Beausoleil Is (inside), Present Is. Smallmouth have been hitting a lot of muskie lures this week (Suicks!) so don't be afraid to throw those 5" tubes, 6" Senkos and bigger Rapalas
Top Lure: Spinnerbaits (chartreuse); Senkos - green pumpkin, watermelon; tubes - mustard, green pumpkin

WALLEYE: The walleye fishing has picked up. There are a few fish starting to bite in the Waubaushene area, also dragging a worm harness or bottom bouncing out off Methodist Is has produced some of the bigger fish to date - don't forget about the channel. So try off Gore Rock, front side of Methodist Is (facing Snake), Snake Is., Red Buoy at Present.
Top Lure: Worm harness with bottom bouncer, small Rapala, jig & grub

PIKE: The pike are starting to move back to the bays. Still a little sluggish - slow down your presentation. 8' to 14' is a good bet. Trolling big Rapalas bas been key but slow down. Hoggs Bay, Sturgeon Bay & Penetang Bay have been good spots.
Top Lure: Musky Taker spinnerbaits, Rapala 18's, 3" or 4" minnows

Muskie: With the warmer weather longer, the Muskie are still scattered, but the numbers and the size have really picked up. Reports of some fish being taken trolling as well as casting. Pitchin' Bull Dawgs or Suicks on weed edges in 10' to 18' of water have produced some numbers of good fish. The trolling has been on middle bay humps. Try the area around Hillbank or the area around Oriole Rock, careful there is a lot of up & down in those areas.
Top Lure: White Bull Dawg Lures, Jailbird Believers

TROUT/SALMON: The salmon are still in "The Hole" just in front of Ginn Rocks - that's where Bob's salmon was hooked. Best time is 4:00 pm until dark 85' down in 100' to 120'. Lyman's Glow pattern with red dots and red head has been the ticket! Later on in the evening try flat lining deep diving crank baits.
The Sturgeon and Coldwater rivers still have some nice silver fish in them - this should really pick up with the rain we're expecting in the next few days! There are some diehards fishing off Balm Beach and getting results too!
Top Lure: Lyman's - pink or red dots and red head, deep diving crankbaits; Salmon Roe, Luhr Jensen eggs, small spinners
