18.06 lbs lake trout -- Rebecca Stout

With the recent up swing in temperature, the fish are scatered all over the place we went from 67 to 69 degress to 73 to 77 I don't think the fish no if they are coming or going. So fish them really slow!! Some of the early season weeds are starting to die off giving the fish a little more mobility through the weed edges's. all the sun this past week has really driven the water temperature up thus slowed the fish down, also with the little to no wind, the water has really cleared up make it a little easier for the fish to see and making them a little spookier if you are fishing shallow. Our best time of day guiding has been from 4pm until dusk
Rainbow Trout ---- Trollers are fishing a little deeper now for some reason out off Balm Beach and D'Aoust bay they are fishing in 70' to 90' of water off the 13th Cons small spoons are the the key. the fishing has really picked up lake trout off of Giants Tomb and the salmon are starting to show up in "the Hole" by Gin rocks.
Top Lure ---- Lymans, nk28's,Nk Mag,
Small/Largemouth ---- the smallies are all over the place shallow, deep on the shoals in the weeds doesn't look like they no where to go. And with the recent up swing in water temps could slow down what we thought was gong to be and early fall bite so be patient it will come, the nights are cool and with the shorter days there is not as much time in the day for the lake to heat up, but there still is a fish or 2 to be had in tight on the rocky shore lines they are full of crawfish so a tube jig in a natural colour is the ticket. the largemouth have been very active the weeds are up nice now so fishing in the pockets with a weedless worm set up or pulling a top water around the surface will put fish on your line Largemouths have been really aggresive early evening .
Top Lure ---- topwater frog, 4" and 5.5" tubes, spinnerbaits, worms and Leeches
Muskie---- Lots of fish being sighted but very few hooking up really starting to wonder if all the walleye's and perch in the bay are keeping them full. We were able to get a couple of fish to go this week really burning a spinnerbait/bucktail around the weed edges
Top Lure: ----bucktails, spinnerbaits, suick jerkbaits swimbaits
Walleye ------ the walleye have moved into there summer homes, Penetang bay has still been your best bet to catch and fish that is outside the slot size most of the bigger fish are out around Magazine Island and Whiskey Island , the bottom end between the boat launch and Hindson's Marine is pretty choked with weeds when they start to die off the fish will move back down to that end of the bay, Waubashene, sturgeon Bay and hogss bay have all been great producers and yes you don't have to leave Midland bay lots of fish all over the bay find water in the 12 to 18 feet range and go get'em well the hot bait is they old dew worm on a harness or a floating jig head or just try a good hook and worm, the best depth seems to be that 8 to 18 foot range, the fish seem to be suspending during the day and moving up shallow in the early evening been having some great luck with the rapala x-rap slow jerking it along drop off. They are starting to move into the weedy area's on an over cast day try a slow moving bait just above the weeds hint a spinnerbait works well. the walleye's seem to be everywhere great reports from the Go home bay area also the Bone Island.
Top lure:------Rapala husky jerks, wally divers, worm harness
Pike -------the pike are starting to show up a little more often now and some nice fish . Honey harbour is still putting up good numbers as is Hoggs bay the little slower presentation seems to be the key. casting spinnerbaits and burning them across the top of weed edges have been very successful or trolling big spinnerbaits on those same weed edges after you get a follow has been productive as well if you are seeing them don't give up they will bit stay on them the bigger fish have moved into a little deeper water try fishing them in the 10 to 16 foot range and hold on cause if you catch one it will be a big one .
Top Lure:------ Smithwick rattlin rouge, Rapala's husky jerk, x-rap, original. .
