Proposed Regulation Changes
The Eastern Georgian Bay/North Shore Stewardship Council made specific recommendations to the Minister of Natural Resources, earlier this year, with respect to fishing regulation changes for Georgian Bay. These recommendations included:
| NO slot limits | |
| exemption for live release bass tournaments |
The Minister and/or his advisors did not heed this advice, and therefore, there are sweeping changes being made to the Fishing Regulations for Divisions 16 & 17 (Georgian Bay) to take effect January 1, 2003!
These changes include:
| slot sizes for BOTH pike AND walleye | |||||||
limit reductions, with a sport fishing license, of:
| |||||||
limit reductions, with a conservation license, of:
| |||||||
| These changes are the first step in streamlining the regulations ACROSS THE PROVINCE! |
The implications of these regulation changes will be astronomical! Live release bass tournaments will be extinct from Georgian Bay and eventually Ontario! The economic impact of these decisions will be in the MILLIONS of dollars per year!
